So what are we left with? Well. Going by the economy of data given within the text itself. I believe we can establish that Jonah himself wrote down this unflattering book! How else would have the inner dialogue Jonah had with God recorded?(See Jonah 2)
How else would the reader be privy to the exchange of God with Jonah at the end of his self titled book? My friends I believe Jonah wrote down his own account. I believe this view validates today’s devotional verse. No word of prophecy or scripture has come by the will of man, “but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” Only God had the right and the power to spare Nineveh from the wrath they had incurred. And only the Holy Spirit of God could call that rascal Jonah to heel. And inspire him to write a self indicting book, that proves the love of God for all creatures.
