2 Peter 1:19
(KJV) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts…
When I was a kid we would go to the county fair every year. One year in particular there was a “fortune teller” seated in one of the rows dedicated to farming. (Why I have no idea.) But there she was! Dressed up in some outfit befitting a fortune teller. Crystal ball and all! She called me over (very creepy by today’s standards) and said “one dollar and I read your palm.” As a ten or so year old I thought “what a bargain!” I pulled out my buck and sat down with my hand out. She “oooed” and “awed” over my illustrious future. Noting my long life and my (here is the part I remember most) 12 CHILDREN that I would have! EEK! I was TRAUMATIZED!!! I already had a litter sister and brother I barely got along with, and now my future held 12 more of these little rascals?!? That night is when I decided that fortune tellers were totally BUNK!
What does Peter tell us by way of the Holy Spirit in todays verse? “We have also a more sure word of prophecy” period! I am so thankful for Gods word. It is trustworthy, accurate, and always on time! When God says something, ITS GONNA HAPPEN!
