In Mathew 21 we find Jesus teaching of the Kingdom in yet another parable. A story designed to teach a spiritual lesson. Beginning in vs31 the parable is punctuated by an announcement and a pronouncement. First those considered CHIEF among sinners will enter into the KINGDOM OF GOD(vs31-32). Book ended by a pronouncement, (vs42-44) “Did ye never read the scriptures, The Stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the cornerstone”. This He says is the LORDS doing. A marvelous thing! Concluding that rejecting this STONE, the KINGDOM of GOD will be TAKEN from them and given to others. Those who will receive this ROCK gladly. And bring forth fruit worthy of their salvation.
Vs.44 speaks cryptically of these two groups. Theses two types. Theses two peoples... “Those who fall upon this ROCK shall be broken: but on those who IT shall fall IT shall grind to powder.”
The KINGDOM of God is made up of those BROKEN by the conviction of their sin when stumbling upon the ROCK of AGES, the God man, Jesus the Christ. This firm and fixed TRUTH incarnate! The lover of our soul.
Christian how then shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation as this? Let us pray that our brokenness be poured out in the sacrifice of praise, and obedience. Lest we be found having that STONE falling on us! GRINDING us to POWDER. Not being forsaken, let us not forsake Him or His purpose in our NEW LIFE. Seek ye FIRST the KINGDOM and His RIGHTEOUSNESS!(Matt6:33)
