Ephesians 5:20
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ…
Honestly there are few verses in the Bible that tests and proves our faith greater than this one. First let me be clear Paul is not instructing the believer to become a masochist. In keeping it does not imply that God is a sadist. Rather, this verse recognizes Gods sovereignty, holiness, righteousness, power, and perfection.
Being in control, nothing happens without Gods perfect or permissive will. Being thrice separate from His creation, His will and ways are incorruptible. His purity of thought, action and deed unmatched. His ability to perform anything, undaunted. There is no variation in Him.
So… that being said, can we give thanks for the storm? For the rebuke? For the adversity? For the pain? The shattered dreams? The lack of?
See what I mean?
Being told to give thanks for ALL THINGS ALWAYS, takes more than just saving faith. Tantamount to a mustard seed. Giving thanks for all things at all times requires a courage of conviction and devotion to God far beyond just trusting Him to forgive you.(He will if you ask BTW) It is growing to love Him, and know Him deeper and deeper every day. In the storm or safe on the dock. He remains the same.
For that I GIVE THANKS LORD!
