Ok so 60 million years ago, there were the Necrontyr. Now, the Necrontyr lived on a planet very very far away. But this planet has like no ozone layer, so they would die from sun rays young. But far away in the galaxy, there were the Old Ones. These were basically the creators of the psychic realm. After thousands of years, the old ones met the Necrontyr. The Necrontyr saw them and their bonkers powers and asked if they can make them live longer. The Old Ones said “We didn’t make you so go away. Ugly.” And the Necrontyr got mad. So mad that they found the gods of the physical universe. These were called the C’tan. They gave the C’tan physical bodies in exchange for them to fight the Old Ones on their behalf. The C’tan also gave the Necrontyr immortality in exchange for their biological bodies and free will. Now a shell of their former selves, they were called the Necrons. As the war raged on, the Old Ones realized they sucked at fighting. So they made the Aeldari and the Krorks. The Krorks were these massive 40 feet tall goons that were basically your average MCU Hulk. The Aeldari were the most powerful psykers(psychics that can manifest the power of the immaterium[more on that soon]) and could summon their gods in battle. The Necrons won, and being as powerful as they were, looked at the C’tan and said “Duracell battery be of thee” and enslaved them as power generators. The Silent King(leader of the Necrontyr) gave them back their free will and put them all to long sleep for 60 million years. But as a form of self punishment for enslaving his people, he stayed awake for all of that. Tune in later for more lore ig.
