Double tap to edit — The Templar Purge — On Friday the 13th of October 1307, a multitude of Templars were arrested, including their Grand Master, “Jacques De Molay”. Word got around to King Phillip that the Knights Templar possessed sacred treasures and had practices of paganism (Gnosticism). King Phillip accused the Templars of heresy, paganism, devil worshipping (Baphomet), financial corruption, fraud, spitting on the cross and so on to justify their arrest. After years of imprisonment, he and many others were burnt at the stake. Medieval documents stated that Jacques De Molay called out a curse over King Phillip and Pope Clement the 5th who had failed to protect them against the wrath of the king and who had even dissolved the Templars order through his Papal Bull in 1312, Vox In Excelso. Although the Pope dissolved the order, he did not formerly condemned it. One month later Pope Clement died, eight months later King Phillip died. Ironically, the Pope’s body was burnt to ashes by a fire that was caused by lighting that struck the church. The king died of a stroke he suffered during a hunt.
