The Achaemenid Empire One of the biggest empires the world has known; Persia, also known as the Achaemenid Empire. At it’s peak, from the 5th Century to the 4th Century BC, it’s territory stretched from Turkey to Egypt, from Arabia to modern day Iran, to the Indus Valley in Pakistan. The roots of Zoroastrianism, the prominent religion before Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In Northern Afghanistan, in the city of Balkh, an ancient city known for being the old spiritual center of Zoroastrianism, often considered one of the first Monotheism religions to believe in one God. It was the religion of the Persian Empire for a long period before Islam came along.
