A new study was published that revealed women in New York City pay more for goods and services than their male counterparts. This is on top of the wage gap that already exists between the two sexes. As you can imagine, many people are upset.
Like many people, Alony was appalled by the study's results. She also made the point that women tend to be bigger consumers of basic goods, saying, "We wanted to share that women deserve to get a break, and men deserve to be charged 7 percent more. Women are spending more in general and we make less, so we deserve to have a break."
Though the pharmacy has a ton of beauty and skincare products, which are typically marketed towards women, it's still a popular place for men to shop (even if they're charged a little bit more than their female friends).
While it's still unclear whether the statement will help eliminate the unfair "woman tax," it's fair to say it's at least raising awareness of the results of the study. It's also fair to say that cute dogs who shop at the pharmacy do not have to worry about the same issues as they are all treated as adorable equals.
