Arpit Gohil, an 18-year-old Indian man, has a rare condition that resulted in his heart growing outside of his chest. While doctors were convinced he would die as a child, he has overcome his odds to become a "medical miracle."
In 2008, nine-year-old Jordan Taylor was in a horrific car accident that left him nearly decapitated. According to CBS News, his "spinal cord remained intact, but his skull separated from his neck." Remarkably, doctors reattached Taylor's skull in surgery without any paralysis or brain damage. "As far as I'm concerned, he has a full recovery -- he is neurologically intact," said Dr. Richard Roberts.
After being hit by a freight train, Peng Shuilin was sliced nearly in half at his torso. To remain alive, according to the Telegraph, "skin was transferred from his head to the underside of his severed body to keep his organs alive and away from the damaging effects of outside exposure." Then he was fitted with "two bionic legs, attached to a special casting," and now walks again.
