We've all felt that looming dread that comes from seeing our phone battery slowly dwindle away. Don't you wish there was an easier way to charge your phone while on the go? Well, now there is, but it's definitely not what you were expecting.
However, for this new study, the researchers were able to give a Samsung Galaxy enough energy to make three hours of phone calls for every six hours of charge time using only 600 milliliters of urine (15% of a gallon). How'd they do this?
By stacking six MFCs on top of each other, the team amplified the voltage and created a greater energy yield. And, best of all, by using MFCs, you don't have to pee directly on your Samsung Galaxy (though I'm sure Lil Wayne would be happy to demonstrate that it won't damage the phone).
What will science think of next? Whatever it is, we hope it won't involve any more bodily secretions on expensive pieces of technology. New parents deal with that enough as it is. If you don't feel like peeing near your phone just yet, you can always pee in the shower, because that actually might save the world. Why? Science. Why else?
